Six generous Carmel Valley wineries will
be donating their wines to a Mali-Inspired Spirit Doll Sale
that we would like to invite you to. We know some of you don't live in the area,
but who knows? You may find yourself in
Carmel Valley that day or wish to contribute to the cause or just reacquaint
yourself with these great wineries.
Thank
you...

If
you came to the Schools3 Art Show last spring, you may have seen the
one-of-a-kind "Mali-Inspired Spirit Dolls" made with colorful batik
fabric from Africa. Created by three
former teachers from Carmel Unified School District, these colorful female
figures sold out immediately. We are back at it, and have added five more
artists to our group. Our small replicas of the women of Mali will be all
dolled up in Mali batik with touches of French flair. In addition to the dolls,
some unique handcrafted batik necklaces will be for sale, with all proceeds
going towards Schools3. The goal and our
dream are to raise enough money to build an entire school from the sale of this
Mali-inspired folk art. That's a long way off, but little by little, and with
your help, we'll get there.
We
hope you will join us on Thursday, May 17th.
Pick up a sweet Mali-inspired Maiden, contribute to a wonderful cause,
and have a little fun as well.
(Keep in mind that these folk art figures are not
for children, because of buttons and other findings that could be a choking
hazard.)
See
you soon.
